How To 3x Your Visualization Ability For Rapid Growth

Take the technology of visualization a magnitude beyond...

Do you ever get the feeling like you’re stuck in a pattern? Wake up, brush teeth, get dressed, drink coffee, drive to X, go to lunch at either Y or Z. After work, perhaps get a drink at A, B or C…?

Modern life tends to lock us into grooves—like a needle running through the wax carvings in a record player. (If you don’t know what a record player is, for the love of everything holy, please look it up). What’s more, this phenomenon of “groove locking” tends to happen outside our awareness. Which is not great, because we tend to do a lot of it.

Today we’re going to get our arms around this phenomenon and learn a visualization technique that will pave the way to your ideal reality.

Have a seat.

No, really, you’re going to want to sit down for this. If you can’t, then bookmark or favorite this article and get back to it when you can.

You’re sitting down now?

Okay. Good.

Now close your eyes and visualize yourself from a vantage point outside of yourself. As if there was an invisible camera crew wherever you are, pointing the camera at you. See yourself through that lens.

This is the 3rd person POV (point of view).

Now switch that POV to the point of awareness in the center of your mind - looking out of your eyes, toward the world.

This is the 1st person POV.

Now go back to the 3rd person, and crane that camera up through the roof, so you can see yourself from high above.

This is “God’s eye view.”

Now cycle through the POVs again. You’ll notice that when you change your POVs, that the judgement and emotion usually attached to your self-awareness drains away.

This is good; this is what we want.

A dispassionate POV.

Now we’re going to add in some God-like powers.

Return to your God’s eye POV. Close your eyes, and start watching a typical day in your life. Everything you do after you wake up until you go to sleep at night. Speed it up fast enough so you can go through a day in about a minute. Open your eyes again.

If you noticed anything interesting, write it down.

Now, with the snap of your fingers, close your eyes again, and this time, fast forward through the last week of your life to the present day in a similar timeframe, eg. a minute.

That should feel a lot faster.

Note what you found.

Now do the same exercise, but starting from a month back.

Now go back an entire year. Perhaps visualize a timecode on the bottom of your “screen” that spells out the months as they scroll by.

What did you notice here?

What stuck out?

Write it down.

Maybe there’s a break shaped like a vacation to Italy, perhaps some new variables here and there, but I’m guessing that more or less, it starts to look like a repeating pattern.

If you were to put event instances into a seven-day chart, it would look something like this:

  • Wake up at XXXXXXX house

  • at YYYYYYY time

  • for ZZZZZZZ reason.

  • Lunch at CBACCAC… Etc…

What I noticed when I did this was that certain events stuck out, and certain patterns that I had, when taken on a protracted timeline, seemed way more, for lack of a better word, “ingrained.”

Simply put, there are a lot of things we do repeatedly without knowing it, and those actions, on repeat, carve increasingly deeper ripples in our mind, body, spirit and nervous system (the ever-mysterious sensorium that connects all three).

Now for the powerful part:

Visualize the life you want. In as much detail as possible. Interchange between all three POVs. Make sure your visualization cameras are top-of-the-line, 8k, super UHD.

Now. Keeping the carrot of your ideal life in your conscious awareness, do the visualization exercise again, seeing your life from a God’s eye POV, from this moment, right now until one year from now– when you have achieved your ideal life.

Take your time.

This time, don’t wait until afterward to write anything down.

You will notice things. People will appear, and opportunities will emerge. There will be moments FutureYou went out of their comfort zone to unlock the potential of a better opportunity.

Interesting story beats will appear, such as: “I invest in 3 VAs”

Choice points will also appear: “Do I buy the house” or rent and live as a digital nomad?”

Write all this down and keep it somewhere safe.

The purpose of this exercise is two-fold. One, you are increasing the amount of techniques and moreover, combinations you have access to in your visualization toolbelt, and learning how to manipulate space and time like someone who has authorial command of what happens to you - like a director.

It can also help you understand the kind of story beats and choice points you will need to architect your ideal reality. Then you can more easily point your compass toward scenarios which will better be able to deliver these story beats, in essence, reverse engineering the reality you want, beat by beat.

Make sense?
